Hints of Summer

We visited Thrybergh Country Park for our Wedding Anniversary this year. It's quite a drive from our home but it's such a lovely walk in all weathers that it's worth the travel. Since having our son we've found it so important to be able to include him in our special occasions, so a lovely walk in the unexpected sun was perfect. I strapped on the baby carrier (by mothercare incase you're curious) and we wandered around. Mike and I talked and laughed as Myles enjoyed the scenery. We also went for a little retail therapy and then back home again just in time for Myles' bedtime. 

Life definitely is a lot different now that Myles is here but it's different in a good way. We waited so long for him to come along and I feel so blessed to be able to share our life with him. It does feel a little weird to know that Myles wont remember this day but at least we'll have our memories and in the future we'll have these pictures to show him.  

Myles-Stones | New Tricks

Thanks to Mike, Myles has now mastered the art of blowing raspberries. It started slow but after a few days of practicing at every opportunity (much to our amusement) he mastered it. He now blows raspberries when ever he can, ranging in pitch, length and volume. It's possibly the most adorable thing he's learnt as of yet. One down side... drool, lots and lots of drool.

Myles-Stones | Sleeping Alone

My little boy is growing so fast. 

Myles has been sleeping in his own room for a few weeks now but I didn't want to tempt fate by posting this any earlier. He's transitions from sleeping solely in my arms to sleeping alone in his own room. I'm such a proud Mummy. Originally we wanted Myles to sleep in our room for at least 6 month but he would not entertain either the swing crib or the moses basket so things did not go to plan. 

I know that when you move a child into their own room is a very controversial subject but I think whenever you choose is a very personal thing and I don't think anyone has the right to judge other parents for their choices in this matter. I know a mother that had to move her baby into their own room at only a few weeks old as she didn't sleep a wink as she spent all night just staring at her baby. I also know a mother who still sleeps with her baby at 7 months old. Neither of these mothers are wrong because they know their child better than anyone. 

The one thing that I have found extremely handy when moving Myles into his own room is a baby monitor with video. We chose the Motorola MBP36 Digital Baby Monitor after reading a lot of reviews and we love it. I'll be doing a review on this one very soon as it has quickly become a definite must have.

Myles-Stones - Chuckle Monster

Myles and I spent last Sunday with a good friend of mine who has a little girl called Bonnie. We visited a local outlet and wandered around laughing, talking and spending time enjoying our little ones. 

Myles has been laughing for a few weeks now when he's tickled or kissed but Sunday was the first day he laughed without any promts except from having a silly Mummy. My wonderful friend managed to capture this special moment for us. 

Spending my days with my little boy is a delight. In fact I cannot stop smiling as I type this post and just thinking about him reminds me just how lucky I am. 

Mummy Mondays | A year ago today...

...we were given the most wonderful gift. After almost year of trying we found out that we were pregnant. On May 14th 2012 our 1st wedding anniversary we decided to add another branch to our family tree. We were so naive and thought that it would be so easy. That we'd fall pregnant straight away. But that's not always how it happens in the real world and it's not how it happened for us. Now that we have our little miracle I believe that he just wasn't ready when we were. When I look back, even though I remember just how hard it was as month after month passed without a hint of a little pink line, I feel that it's made us appreciate our little bundle of joy so much more. 

We were told by so many people that as soon as you stop "trying" it happens, but who listens to advice these days? So after months of disappointment and heartbreak when Aunt Flow visited every month we decided to just get on with our lives. Such a hard decision to make as a part of us was admitting defeat. We came to the conclusion that if this wasn't the path for us then we needed to get on with our lives. We started doing things that we enjoyed as a couple, instead of sitting around feeling sorry for ourselves. We started ice skating again and fell back in love with the sport. We started working out. We went out for meals. Then the night before we were due to sign up for the gym I decided to take a pregnancy test just to make sure we weren't signing a contract for something we weren't going to use. 

When this extremely faint line appeared we couldn't believe our eyes. I'd had a suspicion that we were pregnant but I'd had the same feelings before and been disappointed. But our eyes weren't playing tricks on us. We really were truly blessed with a baby. 

That's where our journey began. I loved being pregnant. I treasured every moment and felt so lucky to be able to experience one of life's many miracles. But what I love even more than being pregnant, is being a Mum. 

Crafty Saturday | Easter Sunday

I took a few days off from blogging over the Easter period to just enjoy time with family and friends. I enjoy blogging and even though it's only a hobby I do think it's healthy to take a short break every now and then. I guess when you blog about your life you also have to go out and enjoy it too. 

Every year on Easter Sunday we head off to my parents house for Sunday lunch. Usually we also pick up my Nanna on the way, but unfortunately this year she was feeling a little under the weather so instead we popped in on the way home just to say "Happy Easter" and to give her a plate of the scrumptious dinner. I definitely missed not having my Nanna there and it really wasn't quite the same, but it was still lovely to share Myles' first Easter with him, though I am pretty sure that he had no idea that it was different from any other day. 

I though I'd dedicate this post to his outfit because though I am rather bias he did look so flipping cute. The Easter goodies I will post later so this post doesn't become quite so photo heavy. 

I spent the morning creating a last minute outfit for our little man as, 1. I've been very unorganised since having a baby, and 2. I couldn't find any cute Easter baby outfits on my many internet searches. Every outfit was either super girly or super warm and with a baby that has a tendancy to overheat that was just not an option. So armed with a plain white vest, felt and some fabric glue I came up with this...

I am planning on hand stitching the design on before I throw it in the wash but on the day I think it turned out pretty well. What's better is that it's really easy to make... trying to glue fabric while looking after a poorly teething baby, not so much.

This last picture just cracks me up. I'm not sure why Myles doesn't like Daddy's kisses as much as Mummy does but I still think it's a lovely moment captured. To be honest all three of these last pictures bring an instant smile to my face. It still surprises me everyday how much character this little man has at just 3 months old.
